By the skin of their teeth (tiebreaker decided by #6 runner), our boys cross country team set an all-time state record today at the conference championships.   They qualified for the state cross country finals for the 32nd consecutive year.  No other Oregon prep team, boys or girls in any division (and in any sport as far as the OSAA can tell), has qualified for a state finals for so many consecutive years.  They broke the record of 31 that they shared with our girls cross country team.  The girls made it to state every year from 1980 through 2010.  Only one other boys team (Canyonville Christian, 1962-82) made it to state XC for 20 straight years or more and only two other girl’s teams (South Eugene and Crescent Valley) have done so.

Not to be outdone, our girls won the conference title to make it to state for the 34th time in 36 years.  Many thanks to our supportive parents and my wonderful assistant coaches Diana Bushnell and Sara McCune.
